DMEK and future approaches for treating endothelial diseases

Endothelial keratoplasty (EK) has become thetreatment of choice for corneal endothelial diseases. Although during the development of EK different techniques have been described, Descemet stripping (automated) endothelial keratoplasty (DSEK/DSAEK) and its further refi nement, Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK), may have become the gold standard procedures.
