Bowman layer transplantation in advanced keratoconus

Keratoconus (KC) is an ectatic, non-infl ammatory disease, usually bilateral and asymmetric, which is characterized by a progressive steeping and thinning of the cornea resulting in irregular astigmatism which compromises vision.Currently, there are several widely accepted surgical treatments which reduce the progression of KC and/or may allow for visual improvement, such as UV-crosslinking and intracorneal ring segments (ICRS), postponing the need for a final corneal transplantation.
